Experience Asakusa's Oiran Culture, Produced by a Renowned Onnagata Traditional Japanese Dancer（GEISHA BOY)

In the world of traditional Japanese performing arts, the programs were often acted out entirely by male actors and dancers. The male actors who performed as female acts are called “Onnnagata”. One of the popular characters often played by the Onnnagata are the glamorous courtesans called Oiran. Our "GEISHA BOY" is an Oiran transformation experience plan supervised by Ukon Takato, the second generation successor of the Japanese dance Takato school, who is also an active onnagata performer working both inside and outside of Japan. You will get to have one of the members from Ukon’s professional dance company UKONYA help you transform into a fabulous onnnagata. In addition to being dressed in full-scale costumes, you will have full support starting from a detailed information session to a private shooting in a reserved space.

The wigs and costumes used in the experience are actual costumes usually worn by Ukon Takato, the successor of the Takato school with a history of almost 100 years and an active Onnagata performer. The experience is open to all genders, and can match all sizes. The gender of your photographer may also be requested to match your preferences and comfort.

After a detailed meeting, members of the dance company UKONYA led by Ukon Takato will support the full-scale transformation experience following each  customer’s request from hair makeup ,dressing and shooting.

We will create a wonderful space while protecting the privacy of our customers in the reserved space.
